EMDR THERAPY

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

Are you looking to feel better about an experience in your life?

Originally developed to treat symptoms stemming from traumatic events, EMDR is a well-researched, evidence-based  therapeutic practice for many different issues including anxiety, depression and low self-esteem.

EMDR uses a set of procedures to organize your negative and positive feelings, emotions, and thoughts, and then uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements or alternative tapping) to help you effectively work through those disturbing memories and feelings so that they lose their emotional grip over you and allow you to live more freely in the present moment.

Whether or not you are able to clearly articulate your memory or concern, EMDR is a powerful tool to help you break through the emotional blocks from negative events and beliefs that are keeping you from living an adaptive, emotionally healthy life.

Unlike other therapy approaches for trauma (little and big), EMDR has:

1.      NO need for detailed descriptions of the event

2.      NO direct challenging of your beliefs

3.      NO extended exposure to the event, and

4.      NO homework

Most recently, EMDR has been further developed, researched and validated in the Netherlands and the updates have been so powerful that they have been labeled as "EMDR 2.0". The changes to the traditional protocol encourage even more efficient reprocessing of traumatic memories.

EMDR therapy sessions can be conducted in-person or online and I work together with clients to customize the best fit of bilateral tools for each target memory. Since my training in EMDR and EMDR 2.0, I have witnessed its success in clients over and over and it has become one of my preferred treatment approaches for counselling.

Best wishes,
